Help Shanice

Shanice is an 8 year old girl from Tuggeranong in the ACT who loves dancing, Hannah Montana and watching the Canberra Raiders with her family. Shanice has a rare platelet disorder called Congenital Amegakaryocytic Thrombocytopenia (CAMT). Her blood has difficulty clotting, she bruises easily and bleeds longer when injured. In addition to the platelet disorder, Shanice’s family have recently been told by her specialists that they have discovered a chromosome that will unfortunately develop into leukaemia.

Shanice urgently needs a Bone Marrow Transplant, but a suitable donor has not been found after a worldwide search. The family has been told that she will need the transplant before the end of the year, and, since a suitable donor is not available, Shanice’s father will be the donor. There is a 50% chance that the Transplant will be successful.

Shanice’s Bone Marrow Transplant has been scheduled for December 2010. The transplant process will require Shanice to undergo Chemotherapy for several weeks prior to the transplant and post transplant will require her to be in isolation for at least a 4-6 week period to reduce the risk of infection and rejection. Shanice will undergo her treatment at Randwick Children’s Hospital and her family will reside in Sydney during this process for a period of at least 3 months. As Shanice’s father is a contractor and won’t be able to work during the transplant process, there will be a significant financial drain on the family. Shanice’s mum works at Medicare Australia where her friends and colleagues are undertaking fundraising efforts to assist the family through this difficult time.

We are seeking your assistance in raising awareness of Shanice’s story and helping us to raise much needed funds for Shanice and her family. Any assistance you can offer would be extremely appreciated, and forever remembered. I hope that you can attend the Christmas Stamp Class on 27 November 2010.

What have I been upto?

It has been a while since I last posted....and so much has happened. Convention in Sydney, a weekend away on the farm with Judy and Morris....the kids had so much fun, well we all did actually. I'll post some photos later.

But the last seven to 10 days has been devoted to my youngest Jacob, who has type 1 diabetes. Back in January of this year Jacob took the huge step to try the insulin pump to better manage his diabetes. We have had a few ups and downs along the way but overall the positives out weighted the negatives. He had even put weight on, which is a good thing as he is very thin. Well the last 2 line changes have been a real nightmare, even with numbing cream on to make the cannula insertion pain free, Jacob still refused to have his line changed.

So as always we have respected Jacob's rights to his body and gone back to multiple injections. Maybe with time and support Jacob will decide to try the pump again and overcome his fears, as the flexibility with the pump was awesome.....

My eldest, Courtney performed in the school musical a fortnight ago and how proud was I, all the hard work that she did with rehearsals really paid off, the whole cast were absolutely amazing. Even all the work and personal time that the teachers put in showed....

Now to the fun part, one of my recent creations.....

I'll be back later tonight to post some more.....
So take care

Convention is almost here!!!!

I have been so busy, creating for convention. Aren't these so cute. I found this tutorial to make these little top note bags here, http://paperpleasing.typepad.com/my_weblog/2010/04/top-note-purse-tutorial.html

The fabric flowers attached to the front of the bag have been made using the bigshot and circle die #2 and a heat gun.

So I wonder which 8 lucky people will receive these as our group swaps......

I have also made 50 of these bag-a-lopes as swaps

And 50 of these pocket die purse too as swaps.....

So in total I have 130 swaps made for convention.....so I can not wait to see what I receive in return for these swaps....
I will show you what I receive from convention when I return.
So until then.....take care

Just Add Ink Challenge

I just love VINTAGE and the everlasting memories that it brings....those to cherish of an era gone bye.... So here's my take of vintage for the JAI challenge. This is an absolutely gorgeous photo of my children's great grand parent Kevin and Gladys Mulcahy on their wedding day in the 1930's..... Look at the detail of Nana Glad's wedding gown and veil.

First of all, I dyed the pretties flower with baja breeze ink, let it dry and stamped over the whole flower with French Script in close to cocoa. The clear button has been inked with white staz on and the diamond background stamp (looks like spring) and then threaded some chocolate chip ribbon through the two holes. The lace on the side of the board is from my stash along with most of the buttons except the baja breeze. The chocolate ruffled ribbon is retired ribbon original and the the DSP has been torn, sponged and layered to created an aged looked that ties in with the photo of Nan and Pop.
I have used a dymo gun to type out Mr and Mrs Mulcahy which has been sponged in baja breeze and close to cocoa. The scalloped edge tag behind the photo also has more dymo labels which have our gran parent's full names, so that our children will be able to know a bit more about their family. The love sediment was created using my circuit. Hopefully the rest of my creation is self explanatory otherwise let me know.....
Be sure to pop over to JAI(www.justaddink.blogspot.com/) to check all the other fantastic entries.
Oh, Courtney is still alive and made it to 15 LOL!!!
Recipe:
Retired French Script stamp and Looks like spring, ribbon originals and chocolate chip ribbon, pretties flower, close to cocoa and baja breeze inks, staz on (white), clear button, baja breeze buttons and other buttons from my stash, lace, retired parisian breeze DPS, baja breeze card stock, note die, big shot, small clip board, scallop punch, dymo gun, glue dots, circuit and sponges.

So until next time, take care...

Just Add Ink Challenge

Back with another challenge from Just Add Ink, which is also a card for my daughters birthday next week. But then again, she might not make it to her 15th birthday LOL!!! The ATTITUDE and FLOOR ROBE is unbelievable at the moment but I do LOVE her to bits. Apart from the phrase she's going through at the moment, Courtney really is a beautiful young lady and has a lot to offer.

Anyway back to the challenge, be sure to check out the other entries at http://www.justaddink.com/ or even add an entry yourself. I love the colour scheme this week, with kiwi kiss, chocolate chip and barely banana.

I thought I would give the water colour crayons a go. I love the effect and the simplicity of the end result. I coloured the Medallion stamp with chocolate chip, summer sun and old olive crayons. Once I was happy with the colour on the stamp I spritz the stamp lightly with water to make the crayon bleed on the stamp before stamping onto the barely banana card stock.
I used chocolate chip card stock as a matt and a co-ordinating flower brad for the centre of the stamped medallion. Chocolate chip ribbon was used to create the bow before putting together on a kiwi kiss card base.
Well wish Courtney luck over the next week, no I'm only joking and I'll be back with some birthday pics.
So until next time....take care

Hello Everyone,

Hope you all had a wonderful Easter and enjoyed some yummy chocolates over the weekend. I really had to laugh yesterday, my two children 14 and 11 could not wait for their Easter egg hunt. When it was over they asked if I could hide them again so that they could have another hunt, you would think that at their age they would not be interested but the opposite and could not get enough. Both of my scally waggs relished the moment while I sat back and laughed at the urgency to find all of those eggs hidden in our front garden.

Here is a card that I made for one of my friends using my embossing folders and clear window sheets. I just love the clear cards...

A big thank you to Stampin Up for bring out the Bigshot to Australia and all those dies. I just LOVE them. Here is a card that I made use the scallop circle die, the new vintage vogue clear stamps and cottage wall DS paper. The new rich razzleberry ink is just divine as you can see here.....

I have had so much fun with all the new items available in the new mini Autumn-Winter catalogue, be sure to have a look.
So until next time.....
